A cultural Exchange by visiting Korean artist Kim Chang Han!

People say that Myanmar is A “ Pure Soul” country.

My very strong impression when travelling in Myanmar 2018, was such an amazing experience, I made a decision to visit this incredible country again with the view to embrace the beauty of the country further with my artistic impression. To share my impression of this stunning beauty and the ideals of such journey through my personal “World Art Journey”.

What I have painted on the canvas represents, for me, going back to a pure wild nature, the return to a “Pure and Spiritual-Meditative State”

History of The Annual Homage Ceremony for U Thu Kha

Starting in 1981, young Myanmar artists wanted to demonstrate their gratitude and respects towards their art teachers who had taught them in various ways. These teachers were also well known artists U Ohn Lwin, U Ba Kyi, U Ba Yin Kalay, and U Bagyi Aung Soe whose illustrations were published regularly in journals and magazines.

In 1982, the organizers of this homage ceremony, Pahchi U Wathone, U Maung Maung Theik, U Kyaw Nyunt, U Mg Mg Hla Myint and U Kyaw Thaung decided to start another one for U Thu Kha, then a. Well known lecturer at Yangon Fine Art School.

The Ceremony took place annually., but due to the increasing number of participating artists, in 1993, it was decided to move from U Thu Kha’ house in Bahan Sasana Yeiktha to a larger venue. Artist U Pe Thein also attended that year.

So in 1994, the ceremony was held at Min Wae Aung’s New Treasure Art Gallery for the first time. An annual event now for 34 years, with over 400 artists participating.
